Durrës Chamber of Commerce and Industry part of the European HEVON project for the promotion of high quality extra virgin olive oil

On October 9, 2025, in Larino, Italy, the official Kick-off Meeting of the HEVON – High quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil Network project took place, marking the launch of cross-border cooperation between Italy, Albania and Montenegro for the evaluation and promotion of high quality extra virgin olive oil in the South Adriatic region.

The meeting, organized by the Unione dei Comuni del Basso Biferno, the lead partner of the project, brought together all the international partners: the Durrës Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Municipality of Berat (Albania), the Valdanos Cooperative (Montenegro), LUM – Libera Università Mediterranea Giuseppe Degennaro and the Kairos Social Cooperative (Italy).

During the meeting, the main objectives and activities of the HEVON project, which is funded by the Interreg IPA South Adriatic Programme 2021–2027, were presented. The project focuses on innovation, communication and the use of modern tools to increase the competitiveness of enterprises operating in the olive and olive oil sector.

The Durrës Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as the Albanian partner of the project, will play an active role in the implementation of activities aimed at strengthening cooperation between institutions, enterprises and local actors, contributing to the creation of a cross-border network for the promotion of products.

On October 10, the partners participated in the public presentation of the project within the framework of the 282nd October Fair in Larino, where the importance of cooperation between the countries of the region and the opportunities that the project offers for olive oil producers in terms of increasing quality and entering new markets were emphasized.

The HEVON project aims to create a sustainable cross-border cooperation network, bringing together experiences and innovation in the olive oil sector, to promote sustainable development and increase the value of one of the most representative products of the Mediterranean.
